from the message from Daan Leijen (which is referenced in the article): I don't think that the article says that "Monads are inadequate" (since monads are more general than arrows) but you can say that Arrows are sometimes a better choice than monads depending on your problem domain.

This is as contradiction, monads are more general but can do less?
