At the July 14th meeting, Jasper Van der Jeugt talked about his Google Summer of Code project on switching the text library to use UTF-8 internally. Stefan Holdermans talked about how to do polymorphic Dynamics in Haskell as a library.

June 15th, we met at Utrecht University for two talks by Stefan Holdermans of Vector Fabrics and Erik Hesselink of Silk. Stefan talked about his work with Juriaan Hage on a type and effect system for detecting wrong calls to `head` (and more complicated things). Erik discussed some common patterns found in database abstractions at Silk.

On May 12th we met over drinks at the Stairway to Heaven in Utrecht where we talked about Haskell. Also, Silk announced that they're hiring (Haskell) programmers. For information, contact erik@silkapp.com.
