many of these HEAD validation test failures are the same as I saw months 
ago in http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lang.haskell.cvs.ghc/25738 
(though many are different ones too).  Maybe I should look at the tests 
personally, since I'm the one with the machine that can reproduce them?
