I guess this must be a bad interaction between the RTS and FreeBSD's 
threading implementation somehow.  Lacking the resources to analyse it, 
I won't be able to make any progress I'm afraid, but I'm happy to 
provide any help/advice I can if you want to look into it yourself.  It 
might be a good idea to create a ticket so we don't forget, too.
