Can I encourage you to ask Mark Lentczner about this. He is building
the OSX installers for the Haskell Platform and may be able to give an
informed opinion on the 10.5 vs 10.6 issue.

Additionally, as I understand it, it is important for making the OSX
HP installer to start not with an installer for GHC but the binary
image that is used to make the GHC installer. That way it can be
combined into a bigger image for the HP. Unpackaging and repackaging
OSX installers is messy.
