Comment(by simonmar):

 Something is a bit suspicious about those numbers.  Without `-threaded`
 the IO manager is not used at all, yet your second set of numbers are
 quite different from the first even without `-threaded`.  Furthermore, the
 second set of numbers seem to have a lot more outliers (the 99.99% slot is
 much higher).

 (BTW I think this is great stuff nonetheless).
