Comment:

 The bootstrapping procedure hasn't been updated for 6.8 yet. #1346 is the
 bug for that.

 Regardless, the easiest way to bootstrap is to take the 6.6.1 binaries
 from another Linux distro, such as Debian or Gentoo. You will have to
 tweak the paths by hand (assuming you don't want to unpack them in /usr).
