 I've tried to set `CPPFLAGS = -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=600 -D__EXTENSIONS__` as
 described at http://wiki.netbsd.se/Typical_pkgsrc_error_messages without
 success. So I suggest to fix this issue using your first patch with
 `gnu89`! I had the above warnings already for ghc-6.8.2.
