 Yes, _XOPEN_SOURCE 600 causes "Compiler or options invalid; UNIX 03 and
 POSIX.1-2001 applications  require the use of c99", but 500 (and
 -std=gnu89) works! (It's not finished yet, but beyond GHC/Base)
