I would recommend starting with a clean tree by untarring
    http://darcs.haskell.org/ghc-HEAD-2009-01-09-ghc-corelibs-testsuite.tar.bz2
and then doing
    ./darcs-all pull -a
    ./darcs-all --dph get

For now, avoid any instructions that tell you to use git or sync-all.
