OSX i386/x86 and x86_64 - time to switch supported platforms?

On OSX, as of 10.5, both the 32-bit kernel and the 64-bit kernel can seamlessly run x86_64 binaries in 64-bit mode.  

MacPorts now defaults to 64-bit for instance.
