Also the argument to groupBy ought to be some sort of
equivalence relation.

blocks = map unlines 
         . filter (all $ not . null) 
         . groupBy (\a b -> not (null b|| null a)) 
         . lines

... but that suffers from the somewhat questionable
properties of lines and unlines.
