You are certainly welcome to start from it, if it is of any use to you:

darcs get http://darcs.haskell.org/packages/filepath/

Then look in the test directory.

I will be greatful for anything that comes out - and if you don't get
anywhere with the code but do come up with a design, you can always
write a blog post on it so if it ever gets continued people can start
from where you left off.
