[Haskell-cafe] Really impossible to reinstall `base' using cabal?

lazysmallcheck-0.6 failed during the building phase. The exception was:
I did this:
dbanas at dbanas-eeepc:~$ cabal install base
and got this:
cabal: internal error: impossible
Is it really impossible to use cabal to reinstall `base'?
