[Haskell] Bignums in Haskell

Unfortunately, I don't have the answers to those questions; I'm not 
really a GHC hacker.  I would speculate however that the reasons are 
largely practical in nature: GMP already exists, is pretty dang fast, 
and is fairly portable.
